About Us

The UK Gambia Mission started with husband and wife, Derrick and Shirley Eubank. After a brief holiday in Gambia in 2019, they were inspired by God’s love to help and support people living in the most deprived communities in The Gambia. The mission work in Gambia is a response to the call to take action to help and support the less fortunate.

Aid Distribution

We distribute essential supplies such as food, clothing and footwear to help support people living in the most deprived rural communities in the Gambia. Aid distribution takes place during our group annual visit.

Cultural Heritage Tours

Our cultural heritage tours fulfil part of a personal development need as there is a strong correlation between cultural history knowledge and our own personal effectiveness and power. If we lack knowledge of our history, we are more likely to have an incomplete sense of self as a race or group. We may well feel confident in ourselves as individuals but lack confidence in the capabilities of our race or group; this is known as having high personal self esteem combined with low racial esteem. This incompleteness can negatively impact our psychological and social wellbeing.

Sponsor a child

We have been sponsoring children at the Kachumeh SDA school since September 2020, when there were approximately 100 children in attendance. Kachumeh is an impoverished rural community, the few jobs in the area are mostly subsistence farming.

The Mission Holiday

Our experience in Gambia was welcoming and positive with the traditional African environmental feel, we felt at home. We shared our experience with our family and friends and through this, a group was formed for our return visit. We discovered that the group not only wanted the holiday to experience the African culture, but also wanted the opportunity to participate in charitable activities. This initiated the concept of a mission holiday.
The mission holiday also fulfils a need for those who want to reconnect with their African heritage culture and the opportunity to participate in charitable efforts.
